Rock Climbing
One of the best thing and also the most challenging sports that I ever get involved with. I categorize climbing into 2. One is pure adventure and the other is a movement centered sport, like dancing. I enjoy the both world . It took up most my time, but that is the reality of life.

Sports climbing

Adventure climbing

This type is the most popular among students in the tertiary education. It is the competition event that lures students and many young climbers to get involved. I'm a little bit too old for this. Other than competition sports climbing, routes are set up on local climbing area like in quarries and cliff.(rare in Singapore). It grade on difficulty standards like 5.1 to 5.14.(Yosemite dec.) Lots of things need to improve on that. The adventure type of climbing is pretty simple. Go out to the wilderness, and climb whatever great looking cliff that within your climbing standards. But, you need a lot of confidence and courage since you don't know what you going to encounter during the climb. Example of climbs like peaks in Mount Kinabalu. This kind of climb helps me in my mountaineering skills.

Climbing experiences

Kuala Lumpurmy buddy = overnite on the climbing wall.

Most of our natural rock climbs were in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The climbs were in Batu Caves area or in Bukit Takun near Templer Park. Both are well developed for bolted routes and Batu Caves has more sports route compared. While Bukit Takun boast with the long climbs(multi pitches) and also natural protection climbs. Most rock climbers don't go to the summit because the challenge is no the top but the difficulties. Last year we went there to climb and also test for the first time sleeping on a wall with a portalege. Read more about it by clicking the picture on the left of this text or

Mount Kinabalualexander peak on kinabalu

I would lovely recommend this place for people who love natural pro climbing and mountaineering. This granite heaven have more than 100 routes and also a lot of potential new routes. The kind of climbs there are mostly slabby with a lot of other overhanging wall. I always avoid the overhanging one. You know why. Oh I forgot to say that the climbs are mostly above 3700 meters. You've got to be acclimatize before any serious activities. And also got to have permission from the National Park warden before even any climbs. Since there is no bolted routes, climbers have to carry their own equipments, foods and themselves. If you are' WEAK' you can get porters to carry your stuff.
